Mother, baby abducted in Bauchi

The Bauchi State police command have reportedly arrested a suspected kidnapper, Buba Sale, for allegedly abducting a woman, Binta Mohammed, and her four-month-old baby in the Liman Katagun area of the state.

It was gathered that the 40-year-old Sale, demanded a ransom of N500,000 as the woman and her baby were held hostage for about five days.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Dalti Abubakar, who paraded Sale and other suspects on Thursday, stated that a team of policemen from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit rescued the woman and rushed her to a hospital for treatment.

He also added that the case would be charged to court at the end of investigations.

“On July 11, the anti-kidnapping unit arrested the suspect. He kidnapped the victim with her four-month-old baby on July 6 at about 1.30am and demanded a ransom of N500,000. The hostage was rescued alive and rushed to the hospital where she was admitted for treatment. The case is under investigation after which the suspect will be charged to court,” he said.
